Sony Xperia U: Black + Pink

The Sony Xperia U is one of the latest additions to the Xperia lineup of Sony. The phone runs on Android 2.3 OS and it has a 1 GHz processor. The Xperia U also has impressive specifications like most of its predecessors. This can be considered as one of the high end smart phones in the Sony lineup.

Design

The physical built up of the phone is sleek and trendy. The Xperia U looks a lot similar to its predecessor Xperia S including the illuminating strip at the bottom end. However, the Xperia U is smaller than the Xperia S. It has a 3.5” TFT touchscreen display with a scratch resistant coating. The phone has a 3.5 mm audio jack and a micro USB port. You can also find volume control keys and camera keys on the right side of phone. The sleek design of the phone makes it easier to handle.

Features and Specifications

The Xperia U has a 5 megapixel camera with supporting features like auto focus, facial detection, 3D sweep panorama, image stabilization and LED flash etc. A secondary camera of 0.3 MP is present in the front of the phone. HD video recording is possible at a frame rate of 30 fps. The xLOUD Audio Filter Technology in the Xperia U contributes to the excellent audio quality during video recording. The phone has in-built memory of 8 GB of which 4 GB is user accessible. Expandable memory is not a feature in the Xperia U. The phone also has a 512 MB RAM.

The phone battery has talk time of over 5 hours in 2G and over 6 hours in 3G. Standby time is 260 hours in 2G and 472 hours in 3G. Internet connectivity is offered in different ways including GPRS, EDGE, 3G and Wi-Fi etc. Data transfer can be achieved through Bluetooth and micro USB port. There are many pre-installed apps present in the phone and it is also possible to download new ones. The 3.5” display has a great touchscreen that enables easy access to various features.

A range of Android based apps can be downloaded to provide a great user experience. Lack of expandable memory is a limitation in this model but the high end features make up for it.
